Katja Adie said  “The Cornwall Stroke Conference brought clinicians from all over the county together to discuss how best to implement the new National Stroke Guidelines that were published in April this year to continue to improve care for stroke patients in our county. Stroke research provides the evidence that underpins the guidelines. 10 percent of all our stroke patients are enrolled in clinical stroke trials – thanks to the hard work of the stroke research team.”

Katja and Keren presented the current local research portfolio, discussed case studies and showcased how research is in embedded in standard practice in our hospitals in Cornwall. The collaboration between the Research & Development teams at RCHT and CFT to deliver research to our local community was highlighted. “I was privileged to be asked to speak at the Cornwall Stroke Conference and highlight the amazing work that our team does at RCHT. The information that was presented throughout the day was based on research which enabled me to demonstrate how the delivery of these trials leads to new drugs and interventions becoming available for Stroke patients” said Keren.
