RCHT celebrates multiple award nominations at this year’s National B.A.M.E Health & Care Awards

We are proud to have been shortlisted for a National B.A.M.E Health & Care Award, alongside several of our colleagues who have also been recognised in this year’s awards.

The awards celebrate individuals and organisations that are making a significant contribution to equality, inclusion and excellence across health and care services.

Anna Cairns, Appeal Director for our Charity, and Nycki Gray-Cooper, Executive Assistant and Chair for our equality, diversity and inclusion allies network, are both up for the Ally of the Year. This award recognises individuals who may not be part of the B.A.M.E community but actively advocate for equity, inclusion, and justice within healthcare.

Sandra Mitchelmore, Biomedical Scientist, is shortlisted for the Outstanding Social and Community Care Award, which celebrates the unsung heroes of social and community care.

Clinical Practice Educator, Paola Pilapil, is up for Educator or Workforce Developer of the Year, which honours the educators and workforce developers who don’t just teach but inspire. And Rachel Cowley, former Associate Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, is up the for Trailblazer in Inclusion Excellence award, which celebrates those who lead with courage, conviction, and a relentless drive to make inclusion a reality.

Kim O’Keeffe, Acting Chief Executive, said: “We are so proud to see so many of our colleagues recognised for these awards. We have been shortlisted for Inclusive Organisation/ Trust of the Year, which recognises ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive workplace and delivering equitable care for the communities it serves.

The National B.A.M.E Health & Care Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of B.A.M.E staff and allies from across the health and care sector who are making significant improvements in career development support for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff.

Now in its 6th year, the Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday 17 September in London.
