Charity Ball raises vital funds for NHS Research in Cornwall

The Research and Development (R&D) Department at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) hosted the second annual ball hosted by to raise money and awareness for the Cornwall Research Charity Fund (a fund of the Royal Cornwall Hospital’s Charity). To date, over £4700 has been raised.

Held at The Falmouth Hotel, 109 people attended the black-tie fundraiser which included an auction, raffle, a live band and a disco. The event showcased research being conducted at RCHT and the benefit it has for our local community.

Money raised will go to the Research Charity Fund which supports all things research related at RCHT. It has provided equipment, additional staff support, specialist training and has funded patient travel. It has also enabled local researchers to conduct their own studies. There is a current focus on raising money to help fund additional Research Fellows.

Guests danced the night away to the live band, The Arrythmias. Band member, Consultant Haematologist and researcher at RCHT, Dr David Tucker was heavily involved in organising the event.

Dr Tucker said “The Research Charity Ball is a chance to showcase and celebrate the efforts and achievements of all involved in medical and surgical research at the Trust.  There are many hard-working and dedicated clinical research teams at the Trust who work with patients to provide invaluable data on groundbreaking new drugs, surgical devices and other healthcare innovations which provides the absolute best opportunities for the best new therapeutics in Cornwall.  The Charity Ball offers the people of Cornwall the opportunity to celebrate this and raise money for new research opportunities.”
