Emergency alerts on mobile phones on at 3pm on 23 April

UK mobile devices will test emergency alerts on April 23rd, including a distinct siren-like sound and a message display. Consider the impact on vulnerable people and prepare accordingly. Important Changes to the Adult Safeguarding Referral Process

Cornwall Council is introducing new ways to make adult safeguarding referrals. Changes come into effect on April 3, 2023. Make direct referrals by phone or through the new portal on the Cornwall Council website. RCHT professionals can still follow the existing process.

Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit

New Frailty SDEC Unit opens in Tremenel Unit (RCH)

A new Frailty SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) Unit has opened in the new Tremenel Unit (by Tower Block) at the Royal Cornwall Hospital to help alleviate operational pressures on the Emergency Department (ED) as well as reduce the length of stay and improve patient safety and experience.

Trauma Response Car, equipped by RCHT Charity

The introduction of a Major Trauma Response Car, operating out of Royal Cornwall Hospital, means that patients suffering serious injury, for example at a road traffic accident, may no longer need to come via Royal Cornwall Hospital on their way to receive care at one of the region’s major trauma centres.
